The rules and rates for filming in Bhutan differ from that of the normal treks and tours. Tourists or professionals’ intent on doing filming in Bhutan must abide by the Bhutan Filming Rules & Regulations, Royal Government of Bhutan. They also have to pay the filming Royalty and Security Deposit, besides the tourist tariff.
Authentic Bhutan Tours have coordinated many international agencies like NHK, Japan, India, Bangkok, ARD German TV and many more - who have come to do documentary filming in Bhutan. We do research and location hunt and other necessary works as per the subject of your film before your arrival so that you can have a fantastic filming experience in Bhutan.
The following documents are needed to obtain the filming permit from Bhutan InfoComm and Media Authority. The documents must reach to our office at least a month prior to your visit to Bhutan.
1. Application from your company.
2. Certification from the company (To Whom It May Concern) or a letter of recommendation/endorsements from sponsoring agency/company, if any
3. Personal CV of filming crew & their passport copy.
4. Company Profile
5. Synopsis/treatment of the propose film stating the background (purpose), the objectives, the theme of the film.
6. List of equipments, accessories and consumables required to be imported into Bhutan.
7. Dully filled the Film Permit Clearance Application Form (Download from our website).
Filming Royalty
Filming Royalty - US$ 3,000.
Security Deposit– US$ 2,000.
This deposit will be refunded upon completion of the film to the satisfaction of the Bhutan InfoComm & Media Authority.
If the filming narrations are not done in English than you have to send English Transcript along with the CD for submission to the Bhutan InfoCom & Media Authority for their verification and release of our security deposit.
